World Premiere

Song for Humanity will be a feature-length film documentary that explores the power of music to bridge cultural divides on an international scale. It is presented by the Psalm 150 Symphony, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing the sound and image of symphonic music in urban communities and abroad.

On March 12, 2011, the Boulder Symphony Orchestra of Boulder, Colorado, in collaboration with the 120-voice Boulder Chorale, will premiere Song for Humanity, a symphonic choral work by African-American composer Ozie C. Cargile II. Cargile's Song for Humanity is intended to express humanity's journey toward global understanding and unity.

The Song for Humanity film documentary will follow Cargile from the premiere of his work in the United States to premieres of the same work by world-class orchestras on four other continents including the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, and the Buenos Aires Philharmonic. A finale concert will be performed by a Detroit Symphony Orchestra in Cargile's hometown of Detroit, Michigan. Using the shared language of music as an ambassador to humanity, Cargile will invite the participation of these orchestras as a powerful methodology of transcending cultural differences.
